Irvine Asian Rhinoplasty
There’s nothing new about rhinoplasty as a cosmetic surgery procedure. Cosmetic surgeons have been doing them for decades. However there is a rising popularity in a certain niche kind of rhinoplasty and that is Asian rhinoplasty surgery. This rising popularity has been caused by the large number of Asians arriving in California, especially in the Irvine area, and desiring a more mainstream look to fit in. Naturally the Irvine cosmetic surgeons are more than happy to make their dreams of a Western looking nose come true.
Those of you out there thinking about having an Asian rhinoplasty should be aware that the entire cost will be paid by you. Rhinoplasty is considered an elective surgery by insurance companies and they will not foot the bill. The only way an insurance company will pay for your Asian rhinoplasty is if you have a medical breathing condition. So in most cases you will be paying for your own rhinoplasty.
Once you’ve gotten used to the idea of paying for the rhinoplasty yourself the next thing you want to think about is which cosmetic surgeon will perform the procedure. Now is the time for you to do your homework and start getting referrals as well as researching potential California cosmetic surgeons. Get online and see if there have been any complaints against your potential rhinoplasty doctor. This step is important because it can keep you from a potential heartache if your rhinoplasty is badly done.
Most Asians have a broader nose and if you feel that it is too pronounced it might be a good idea to have it narrowed a bit. Don’t go overboard though and end up with a long narrow pointy nose. That kind of narrow nose would look completely out of place on an Asian face and could give you a caricature type appearance. Moderation is the key.
Many people think of elective surgery as posing no risks, but that is not completely true. Any type of surgery can be risky. Your cosmetic surgeon will be able to inform you of any possible problems or complications associated with rhinoplasty so take the time to talk with him or her in detail prior to your surgery.
If you find that once your rhinoplasty is done that no one notices except those that knew you before your surgery then you have a success. Asian rhinoplasty can help give confidence to any Asian guy or gal who wants to enhance their natural good looks and when done correctly the results are stellar.

What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty or nose job or nasal reshaping all refer to the same procedure. It is a surgical prodedure done to change the shape and /or size of a person’s nose. It requires a cosmetic surgeon to first make an incision to access the tissues and cartilage of the nose. The incision is typically made inside the nose which is called a closed rhinoplasty procedure, however it can also be made outside the nose, which is known as an open rhinoplasty procedure. The next step is to remove, add or rearrange tissue and cartilage inside the nasal construction to give the appearance desired.
Finally, the plastic surgeon will close the incision by folding the tissue over the newly constructed nose. To help the nose keep it’s new structure a splint is applied to the nose which is to stay on until the nose is healed. Some type of soft absorbent material may also be packed inside the nose to maintain the shape and the cosmetic surgeon will allow for some nasal support to enable breathing after the operation.
If packing was used it is typically removed within 24-48 hours after the rhinoplasty surgery. Most people have at least several days of swelling and pain after their rhinoplasty. About one week after the operation the plastic surgeon will replace initial splint with a smaller splint also designed to protect the nose and to keep it straight and stable.
To allow for proper healing after rhinoplasty it is imperative that the cosmetic surgeons directions be followed exactly. Bruising and swelling can be helped by applying cold compresses, this will also help reduce the paid from swelling. Most rhinoplasty patients are advised to avoid blowing their noses for 7-10 days to allow healing to take place and to minimize potential bleeding. Pain medications can be prescribed to assist with post operative pain.
It is usually recommended that your head be kept elevated for some time after your surgery. This keeps the blood from pooling in your nose which can result in bleeding and in some cases can damage the structure created by the plastic surgeon. Also, exercise is to be avoided for several weeks as is direct exposure to the sun. With proper follow up and care you can help to ensure that your rhinoplasty is a successful one.

Total Cost of Rhinoplasty
The total cost of your Irvine rhinoplasty will be made up of several factors besides your doctors fee. One of the larger costs is the facilities fee, which includes many things. It can include costs for equipment and supplies, a fee for the general use of the facility as well as the costs of any support staff used during the surgery. Rhinoplasty performed in a doctors office or clinic will be less expensive than one performed in a hospital.
Another fee is the cost of the anesthesia. If a local anesthesia is used the cost will be less, however if anesthesia was required to keep you asleep for several hours then the cost of both the anesthesia and an anesthesiologist to administer it will be significantly higher. In addition, if you were kept asleep for several hours the post operative period will be longer and the facilities cost can be expected to be higher as well.
All of these together will affect your facility fee. All costs and potential costs should be discussed with you cosmetic surgeon prior to surgery so you don’t receive and nasty surprises when you get your bill. Nationally the average facility fee for rhinoplasty is about $700. Because of the area, you can expect your Irvine rhinoplasty surgery to be somewhat more expensive. Again, an Irvine cosmetic surgeon should be able to provide you with a complete estimate of costs.
In some cases your plastic surgeon will quote you a single price as a package price, which includes facilities fees, anesthesiologist, the cosmetic surgeons fees and other miscellaneous fees. If you don’t feel comfortable with this request a breakdown so you can understand where all the costs are coming from.
These numbers come from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons under the category of rhinoplasty costs. Consider the following factors in regard to these numbers.
1. Rhinoplasty cost as defined by the ASPS includes any nose surgery performed by a board certified cosmetic surgeon. This means it includes everything from a simple removal of a small bump on the nose right up to complete nasal reconstruction. As the complexity of the work increases so will the cost. Also, the costs are generally higher with more talented plastic surgeons and also increase based on location. As stated earlier, Irvine plastic surgeons are typically more expensive than the national average.
2. Some doctors will try to hide the costs involved in the work done in order to bill insurance companies. They may classify your surgery as repair of a deviated septum to improve breathing simply because the insurance companies will cover this type of medically necessary work. Make sure you know if your doctor is planning on billing your insurance for work performed and if you don’t wish to be involved in this let your cosmetic surgeon know.
While some would consider the cost of rhinoplasty to be high, others consider this type of procedure to be priceless. Irvine rhinoplasty doctors are highly skilled and trained and make a very good choice for your cosmetic surgery, but be sure to know the costs involved with rhinoplasty beforehand.
